About the Community Report
Project Trust volunteers are required to write a Community Report about the place where they are posted for their year overseas, and I've finally got around to putting mine online. Better late than never I suppose!
I went to Sri Lanka with Project Trust in August 1995, and spent a whole year there.
I have reproduced the report I wrote at the end of the year as faithfully as possible on this site; which is why some of the photos look a little brown and faded, and why the odd sentence in the report makes me cringe now, reading it back several years later!
However, it is a document I treasure. This site is mainly intended for prospective volunteers, and those that have already signed up, and the only piece of advice I'm going to give is to devote as much time and energy as you can to writing your report (and/or a diary). It's for you to keep, and it's shocking how fast much of your year overseas starts to fade from memory.
